— A Prayer for a Woman in Labor —
“O Lord God Almighty, the Creator of all things and the Giver of knowledge to mankind: who did fashion the body of man from the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and granted him Your blessing, that he might increase and multiply by means of the birth of children: We ask You now, who love mankind, to bless this Your handmaiden, who is with child, granting her help and comfort at this trying time; ease her labor, and bring her to safe delivery. Yea, O Lord, open the treasury of Your mercies, and Your compassion unto her, and let her give birth to a fruitful vine, to be a cause of joy to her all the days of her life: For blessed are You, and Your Only-begotten Son, and Your all-holy, good and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.”
In designing this print, I wanted to create something inviting and feminine, yet simple. Labor is not a time to to overwhelm the senses. It is a divine and sacred, though demanding, journey, and it requires quiet for most and strength and energy for all. And so, the black and white script, as well as the small, craftsman rose detail encourage warmth and openness and positive focus, directing a champion mother back to prayer, to her body, and to her child, with peaceful expectation.
This print can be easily laminated for the on-the-go nature of giving birth, or framed and placed next to the bed or wherever is most desired. A truly unique and beautiful gift to celebrate a pregnant mother!
This print is available in an 8×10 only because of the large amount of text.
All prints are hand-sketched, painted in watercolor, and lettered before being digitized and sent to a local printer to be printed on card stock for a clean and sturdy finish.
Shipping: All prints are packed with a backing board and sealed in protective closure bags, keeping the print free from sticking to any adhesive or getting bent on the way from our home to yours. Shipped by USPS.
