“Joyeux Noel”

French for “Merry Christmas,” Joyeux Noel is a cherished phrase at Christmas time, especially made popular and nostalgic by the 2005 film, “Joyeux Noel,” about the unofficial ceasefire of World War 1 on Christmas Eve, 1914. For just a few short hours that night, British, French, and German soldiers laid down their weapons, sang songs of home, exchanged holidays treats from their native countries and, even, prayed together.
